Wallace Wayne Pettus, age 84, of Belleville, Ill., formerly of Farmington/Park Hills area of Missouri, born September 7, 1937 in Bonne Terre, Mo., died Saturday morning, March 19, 2022 at Sycamore Village, Belleville, Ill.
Wallace grew up in Bonne Terre, Mo., attended a one-room schoolhouse, and recalled as a child, hauling water from the schoolhouse to the family home. He graduated from Desloge High School in 1955. He had served as a medic in the US Army, then attended Barber College and operated Wally's Barber Shop on Main Street in the former community of Flat River, Mo. He also had a TV repair shop and had worked as an electrical technician at Flat River Glass Co. Wallace enjoyed hosting motorcycle rallies on his land south of Farmington, and spending the winter months in Texas and Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Sylvia, nee Gunn, Pettus; his wife Karen Sue, nee Golightly, Pettus; daughter Cindy Patt; two sisters and one brother.
Surviving are his children Steve (Marie) Pettus of Colorado, Krista (Christopher) Barber of Shiloh, Ill., Randy (Shannon) Pettus of Colorado, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 9 – 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill. Military honors will be rendered.
