Walter R. 'Bob' Noland, age 90, of Lebanon, Ill., entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 18, 2010.
Nr. Noland was born September 12, 1919 and was a proud, life-long resident of Lebanon. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1937. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Leola Lee Noland, nee Hobbs, March 8, 1941 and, shortly thereafter, was stationed in England while serving as a B-17 navigator in WWII. Following the war, he returned to Lebanon and worked for Sinclair Oil. He spent the rest of his career working in the petroleum distribution industry in various capacities. More than anything, Bob enjoyed being a father and contributor to the Lebanon community. He was a charter member of the Lebanon Lions Club and, as a faithful member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, led a Sunday school class for many years with his wife. Upon retiring, Bob enjoyed being a full-time, devoted grandfather and supporter of family and friends.
Mr. Noland was preceded in death by his wife, Leola, after 66 years of marriage. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Noland of Lebanon; granddaughters Katie Noland of Champaign, Ill. and Leanne Noland of Evanston, Ill.; sister-in-law Edna Mae Noland of New Castle, Ind.; and cherished nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Church of Christ, 123 East Dee Street, Lebanon, IL 62254.
