Obituary
Wanda Leah Von Stroh (nee Blades), age 85, formerly of Nampa, Idaho, born in Kansas City, Mo., passed away Monday, November 9, 2009.
Mrs. Von Stroh moved to O'Fallon, Ill., 5 years ago to be near her granddaughter, Holly Koechner. She was a great partner to her husband, Alvin, for 58 years prior to his passing away. In addition to raising her three children, she started and ran two entrepreneurial businesses – one in children's clothing and one in nutrition, Health Nut Health Food Store. She was a dedicated Christian and lifelong church parishioner – teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Rhoda (Carter) Blades, husband Alvin J. Von Stroh, grandson Anthony J. Bosworth, II and sister, Clemie Keith.
She is survived by her children Rolland (Catherine) Von Stroh of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Darlene (Douglas) Jones of Columbus, Ohio; and Cynthia (Basil) Wilfong of Peoria, Ill; her grandchildren, Nelson Von Stroh of Bend, Ore; Eric Von Stroh of NYC, N.Y.; David (Sprague) Von Stroh of San Francisco, Calif.; and Holly (Mike) Koechner of O'Fallon, Ill., her five great grandchildren, Christian Koechner, Kobey Bosworth, Kaitlyn Bosworth, Beau Bosworth, and Landon Von Stroh; sister Helen Poteet of Riverside Calif; and dear friends Kathleen, Amy, and Greg Huddleston of Filer, Idaho.
Memorials in honor of Mrs. Von Stroh may be made to Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois Chapter, 8430 W. Bryn Mawr, Suite 800, Chicago, IL 60631, or to your choice of local hospice organization. The family of Mrs. Von Stroh is grateful to Heartland Hospice and the staff at Lebanon Care Center for their genuine concern and care provided over the past few months.
Funeral: A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home Chapel, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon, with Rev. Mike Garrison, Chaplain Heartland Hospice, officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held at the funeral home immediately following the service. Mrs. Von Stroh will be laid to rest next to her husband at Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise, Idaho.
