William Eugene Haukapp, age 80, of O'Fallon, Ill., born October 2, 1943 in Belleville, Ill., passed away May 21, 2024 at Memorial Hospital, Shiloh, Ill.

Bill grew up in O'Fallon, the son of John and Hilda, nee Blumberg, Haukapp. He graduated from O'Fallon Twp. High School in 1961. He worked as a pipefitter for American Steel, later Granite City Steel, from which he retired. Bill was a dedicated husband and wonderful family man, coaching his kids in soccer, basketball and little league baseball; and was quick with a friendly prank. He was a member and proud supporter of O'Fallon Boosters. Bill married Kay Miller on June 6, 1964, and was eager to celebrate his 60th wedding anniversary with her on June 6.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother Donald, and his son Brad William Haukapp.

In addition to his wife, Kay, he is also survived by his son Keith Haukapp of O'Fallon; daughter Wendy (Hank) Wegs of Mount Sterling, Ill., and daughter-in-law Kim Haukapp of Goldthwaite, Tex.; beloved grandchildren Brian (Taylor Bradley) Haukapp, Tyler Haukapp, Kiersten Haukapp, Lane (Mallory) Wegs, Becca (Andy) Smith, Peyton Wegs, Morgan Wegs; and great-grandson Brenan Smith.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 11 am – 1 pm on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, 102 W. Washington St., O'Fallon.

Funeral: 1 pm, Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at O'Fallon City Cemetery, O'Fallon, Ill.
