Obituary

William J. Koch began his Eternal Life on June 13, 2022 after a long illness with Parkinson's Disease. He was 79.

Bill started his career, serving honorably in the US Air Force. After college at SIUE, he was employed by the Illinois Department of Public Aid, then for the Illinois Department of Employment Security where he served 26 years as an Unemployment Insurance Adjudicator. He was known by his supervisors and coworkers for his precise and accurate decisions. He retired in December 2000 and enjoyed pursuing interests in travel, listening to music, shopping at the mall, being an expert in trivia, and enjoying sports on TV and radio.

Bill's family and friends knew him to have a calm personality and to be very loving, honest, intelligent, trustworthy, humble, forgiving, a good listener, generous, caring, trivia king, precious, important and good and who believed in treating people the way he would like to be treated. Bill attended mass every Sunday at St. Clare Catholic Church in O'Fallon, Ill., when he was growing up; at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Belleville where he and his wife were married; and at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church and Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He also regularly accompanied his wife to worship services at Community of Christ in Shiloh. Bill has a strong faith in God and showed the love of God to everyone around him. His life exemplified the life of Christ. He had no enemies, only good friends. Bill and his wife had a very loving marriage. Those left behind hope with all their hearts to meet Bill again in God's Kingdom. Bill lived the last 5 years of his life in Skilled Nursing at St. Paul Senor Community in Belleville. Thank you for your prayers and remembrances of Bill.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Regina (nee Hemmer) Koch, and sister and her husband Barbara and Albert Kimmle.

Bill is survived by his wife of 32 ½ years Jeanne (nee Booth) Koch, niece Cynthia Kimmle, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Kerri Booth, brother-in-law Herb Tohtz, nephew and niece Thomas and Sarah Booth, great-niece and great-nephew Rebecca and Mackendrick Booth, and several cousins.
