Lt. Col. William 'Bill' Lester Goodwin, age 76, of O'Fallon, Ill., born February 26, 1948 in Rochester, New Hampshire, passed away at home on Monday, May 13, 2024.

Bill served in the United States Air Force and had a distinguished 38+ year military career. In that time, he was awarded the Airman's Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with 4 oak leaf clusters among many others over his enlisted and commissioned career.

Bill relished spending time with his four beloved grandchildren and enjoyed many car rides with his dog Sadie by his side. Bill was also an active member of the Elks.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Debra Ann Goodwin; his parents David L. and Margaret Lucille Goodwin; siblings Larry Goodwin and Janet Goodwin.

He is survived by his son, Jason Goodwin and his wife Amanda; grandchildren Lana, Myles, Gunnar, and Logan Goodwin; siblings Thomas Goodwin and Joan Goodwin; and his beloved Pomeranian mix Sadie.

Memorial donations are suggested to the World Wildlife Fund.

Illinois Patriot Guard Riders will honor Bill at 10:30 am, Friday, May 24, 2024 at Wolfersberger Funeral Home.
Funeral procession will then depart the funeral home at 10:45 am for a committal service with military honors at 11:30 am at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
