IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
Seipp
November 22, 1929 – April 22, 2023
Mary Ann Seipp, nee Fohne, age 93, of O'Fallon, born November 22, 1929 passed away April 22, 2023 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, O'Fallon, Ill.
As a lifelong member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish, most people knew Mary Ann as a devout Catholic and a quiet, gentle, generous soul. But few saw her playful, fun loving, joking side as her children and close friends did. Her children, Lawrence (Shirley) Seipp, Patricia Rogers, James Seipp, Mary (Bob) Gehrs, and David (Monique) Seipp, along with her grandchildren, brought out the best in her. She would cook for them and play cards while telling funny stories from her past. Most of her years were spent doing what she treasured most, raising her kids and taking care of their home. But when her children were grown, she ventured out and worked in housekeeping for a local nursing home and ministered to some of the patients she came to know there. In her later years, she enjoyed watching Mother Angelica on EWTN and prayed the rosary many times a day because she had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It might come as a surprise to some that Mary Ann also enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars and American Idol! Her simple joys were doing things like leaving a snack for the gentlemen who collected her trash, yard waste, and recycling, baking zucchini bread for church bake sales, and making her favorite side dishes for funeral luncheons.
Mary Ann would be most pleased if people would take her example and share simple acts of kindness to family members, friends, neighbors, or strangers. She kept everyone up to date on what was happening with all the other family members both in her letter writing and phone calls.
Mary Ann grieved the loss of Melvin, her husband of nearly 63 years. She also suffered the loss of four of her grandchildren, Jason Sibert, Karen Rogers, Nicholas Seipp, and Brandi Richendollar nee Gehrs.
Her sister, Elizabeth Christ is the only one of her six siblings still living. The other five, Merle Fohne, Robert Fohne, Clarence Fohne, Virginia Hettenhausen, and Doris Benhoff preceded her in death as did all of her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, except Hope Heumann, Eileen Fohne and Loretta Seipp.
Her grandchildren, Sheila Haselhorst, Fr. Joel Seipp, Travis DeArmon, Nathan Seipp, Amy West, Anna Donnelly, Candice Sinovich, Laura Seipp, Kyle Seipp and Colin Seipp will miss their Grammy very much. Mary Ann was a huge part of all of their lives and she was so proud of all of them. Mary Ann was also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations are suggested to St. Clare of Assisi Capital Development Fund.
