Carol Ann Hendricks, nee Coleman, age 84, of O’Fallon, Ill., passed away March 8, 2026 at her home, under the care of BJC Hospice and her family.
Carol was born October 11, 1941 in St. Louis, Mo., to Samuel Edward and Goldie Agnes, nee Pashia, Coleman. Carol grew up in Herculaneum, MO, and moved to Granite City, IL., where she attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Granite City High School. She married James R. Hendricks, and they moved to O’Fallon in 1972.
Together with her husband Jim, they raised their family of seven children in rural O’Fallon. She was a wonderful host, catered to the neighborhood kids, and hosted bonfires, Christmas parties, and prayer meetings on the farm. Carol was an active part of St. Clare parish, where she served on the funeral luncheon committee, sang in the choir, and participated in the design concept of building the new church. She worked at Schnuck’s markets for years and helped her friend Judy Bugger in the catering business. Carol enjoyed travelling, especially the western US road trip and a European vacation. She loved to bake, cook, and garden; music was the love of her life.
She is survived by her husband James R. Hendricks, Sr., children Robyn Hendricks, Sherrie (Don) Schad, James R. (Vickie) Hendricks, Jr., and Greg E. (Diana) Hendricks; 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; sister Sandra (Ron) Schnefke-Dillard; and sister-in-law Linda Hendricks.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons Brian, Edward, and Timothy; daughter-in-law Tracy; grandson Gary Manley; great-grandson Desmond Nichols; sisters Ruth (Richard) Smith Otten, Rosemary (Don) Catanzaro; sisters-in-law Marcella Hendricks Lindsay, Patsy Hendricks Paul, and Delores Hendricks Brown.
