Kim Sabella

Funeral Director (IL & MO) Owner

Kim Sabella is a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer with nearly 40 years experience in Funeral Service. Kim was raised in central Oklahoma, and began her career in Funeral Service upon high school graduation in Midwest City, Oklahoma, working at the hometown funeral home. She attended Central State University's School of Mortuary Science in Edmond, Oklahoma. She met James Sabella, a native of Chicago, and Air Force Airman stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. They married in 1988 and were soon transferred. Kim continued her work in Funeral Service over the years, through multiple military relocations. She has held licenses in Arizona and Texas, and has also worked in Oklahoma and California. In addition to holding her Illinois State Funeral Director and Embalmer license and her Missouri State Funeral Director license, Kim is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner, earning this noteworthy voluntary accreditation through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice. Over the years, she has been active with the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, where she was selected to serve on the Education and Convention Committees.

Locally, she is a member of the O'Fallon Woman's Club and is a past Ambassador and former Board member for the O'Fallon-Shiloh Chamber of Commerce. She is also a member of the local chapter of PEO, DAR, and VFW Auxiliary, and Past-President and former longtime member of O'Fallon Sunrise Rotary Club.
As the wife of a career military man, she understands the value of commitment-to our country, to her family, and to her community. She is well-informed of veterans' burial benefits and encourages full recognition of all military service. Her devotion to this recognition lends itself strongly to her own commitment to our military-past and present.

Wolfersberger Funeral Home has been honored by Southwestern Illinois College for the contributions that Kim has made over the past several years in her commitment to helping students with career exploration. Kim regularly participates in career fairs for young people and area Girl Scouts. She represents her vocation, speaking at workshops for non-traditional career choices and consults one-on-one with young people who express a genuine interest in Funeral Service as a career.

Balancing practical information with candidness and appropriate humor makes her a valuable contributor to educating young people, and the public, of the value of funeral service and education. For her contributions, Kim has been honored as SWIC's "Career Mentor of the Year.” Together, Kim and Jim were honored with the "Faith in the Marketplace" Award by the Belleville Diocese Messenger newspaper. Kim is the mother of three children: Anthony, Hannah, and Rachel; and grandma KK of two. She is always eager to be available for public speaking.

In her spare time, she enjoys walking the various park trails around town, bike-riding, and like one would expect of a good mortician, listening to true-crime podcasts.
